Best Sculpting Blushes - Including Swatches!

I've fairly recently abandoned the chiselled, contoured look, instead spending more time buffing out my bronzer. However, I have a round face. Not joking, it's spherical. So as much as I love the break from contouring, I still like to sculpt a little bit to try and make my face a little more shapely rather than, you know, like a football. I find the best way to do this is to sculpt with blush. I am a huge fan of this technique, I find it creates a nice, subtle cheek bone. It's great for a no make-up, make-up look. From keeping up with social media and fashion mags and such, the natural make-up look is definitely on trend at the moment, so I thought I'd break down blushes that I find best to use for a sculpted yet natural finish.

Let's Talk Photography - How to Improve Your Images!

Before I started blogging, photography had been my hobby since I was 14, and I'd become semi-professional having had some paid jobs over the last couple of years. In my experience, photography came first and blogging came second, so photography supported my blog, rather than my blog supported my photography. As in, I didn't just take photographs for my blog, which I know is the situation for many bloggers. Therefore, many people may not have the experience to produce high quality photographs. Or even if you are producing good images, you may still not have a wider knowledge of the skill of photography itself - working only on auto mode, dependant on editing, etc - and want to expand your skills. So, seeing as I have the flu at the moment and my head hurts so much I can't stand up, I thought I'd write a post on photography using photographs from my already existing portfolio to demonstrate my points. I really don't want to call it "tips" because I feel like that would come across as patronising, but I thought I'd discuss my methods and techniques, from an actual photographer to people looking to improve their images, whether you're a budding photographer, a blogger (whatever your niche is, lifestyle, beauty, fashion) or just interested in what it is I do!

Photo Shoot: Styled with Vintage Rose Scarf

This was my third and final photo shoot with Georgie before she went back to university. I can't wait until she next comes back so we can go out again.  I'm much, much more enjoying immersing myself in styling and doing the make-up of my models, I find I'm far more engaged with the entire creative process of my images, from the very start to the final product. Read on for the details!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Collection - REVIEW & SWATCHES

The past 12 months have undeniably seen a surge in popularity of the liquid lipstick, and to no surprise; they offer a lot more durability and opacity than the traditional lipstick. It occurred to me recently when I was reorganising my make-up stash just how big of a chunk Stila's Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks take up of my current liquid lipstick collection. I thought: seeing as I evidently love them so much and I have plenty of them, why not do a post on them?

Photo Shoot: The Yard

On Tuesday, Georgie, my trusted reflector holder extraordinaire Sam (my boyfriend) and I went to The Yard in Faversham who kindly allowed me to take photographs there. As usual I styled Georgie and did her make-up, and I'm really pleased with the images, so lets get on to the details.

BeautyBay Haul - Including Swatches is currently my favourite online shopping destination for make-up, as they stock American brands that are generally difficult to find in the UK, as well as much loved brands already easily available. Their delivery is really cheap, too - you only have to spend £15 to get free delivery within the UK, which isn't bad at all! I've been eagerly waiting for BeautyBay to stock the new MakeUpGeek contour powders, and as soon as they announced they were in stock, I was straight online! I also picked up a few other bits, more from MUG, Morphe and Gerard Cosmetics.

Boux Avenue Haul

I won a competition ran by Bluewater, to win a £100 voucher to spend at their Boux Avenue store. I go through phases of entering lots of competitions; after all, if you're not in it, you can't win it. I have anxiety and for some reason that even I don't understand, I started to freak out when I went to pick up my voucher, and even after getting that out the way, I then got worse as I approached the shop (????). But once I was in there I totally relaxed, the sales assistants were very helpful and friendly, and when I was in there browsing and it suddenly hit me: I had £100 to spend there, not out of my own pocket!  I was thrilled when I found out I won. I don't often have a lot of money to spare on bras and such (make-up addiction takes priority, of course) so I was really looking forward to getting a decent, pretty bra, and having a look at their range of pyjamas and lounge wear. I was having so much fun and got a lot more than I expected for my money, I couldn't help but share it on my blog, even though I know it's not beauty related!

Photo shoot: Georgie at Kings Wood

During term time, Georgie is 4 hours away from me studying theatre at University. She's come home for the week though, so as soon as I found out, obviously I immediately booked her in for a couple of photo shoots while she was home... These photographs were taken yesterday and I am absolutely in love with them. On with the details!

My Top 10 Pink Lipsticks - SWATCHES

I love a good pink lippy, especially in the Spring time, which his now fast approaching. Given this, I thought I'd round up my top 10 pink lipsticks; I tried to include all range of pink shades, from the traditional pink, to a couple of nude pinks and darker pinks. I don't have a preference on the type of shade, I think all look equally feminine and beautifully compliment a bright, girly spring time look.

The Best Loyalty Cards for Beauty Savings

As a make-up junkie through and through, generally speaking, if I want a product, I'm willing to pay a high price for it if I think it's worth it, which when it comes to high end make-up, I often think it is (although Guerlain has a powder thats £100+... that's just absurd, even in my books). However, it never hurts to save a few quid, does it? It's even sweeter when you save money on something that's got a high price tag on it. Many beauty departments offer loyalty cards, some of them you can get really incredible savings on, some of them ... you have to pay through the nose just to save a fiver! I try and do the majority of my make-up shopping at the store who's loyalty card offers me the best savings, and I decided to present my findings so that you can too, free of fuss!

Chanel No.8 Foundation Brush REVIEW

Chanel, Chanel, Chanel... the first word that comes to my mind when you hear that brand name is "expensive"...but I love Chanel cosmetics so much, and their tools are no exception. I recently purchased the new No.8 foundation brush, which was a steep £38, and for that price I think it definitely deserves in depth consideration.

My Make-Up Forever Eyeshadow Palette: Swatches & Thoughts

Make Up Forever is one of my favourite brands ever, and it's only in the last 12 months or so that it's become easily accessible to me since being stocked by Debenhams. I am so in love with my MUFE eyeshadows that I just couldn't help but write a post, even though they're not new releases or exclusives, etc. I built this palette of MUFE eyeshadows myself, and I use it literally everyday; it is literally the palette of my dreams. A final motivation to do this post was that, because Debenhams only stock MUFE online and not in-store, I based my purchases on swatches I'd seen online, so I thought I'd post my own swatches in case there's anybody in the same position.

NEW Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder REVIEW

Anecdote time: because I knew I wanted all 3 of the new powders (Incandescent is in the Ambient Lighting Palette, which I already own so I chose not to buy it individually), I had originally planned to just buy them on bulk. As I'd been buying quite a lot recently, I'd been putting off this big triple purchase until I really felt the need to splurge. It started off as a late night trip to Space NK on the 1st February, about 20 minutes before it closed when they were stocking the new powders; I was so excited to be one of the first to see them when they were just being stocked, I couldn't help but treat myself to "just one". I loved it! The next day, I went back. "One more wouldn't hurt", right? So I walked away from Space NK the next day with the second. Finally, on the third day, I just couldn't help myself. I went in and bought the third. putting off the bulk purchase just cost me 3 x £3.50 car park charges. I may as well have saved myself £7, went the once and bought them all! My stupid, impulse buying tendencies aside, let's get to the review.

NEW NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint REVIEW

I was eagerly checking the Space NK website for the release of this from the early hours of it's release date, 2nd February. I am a loyal Nars customer, with both Sheer Glow and All Day Luminous being up there in my top 10 foundations; with that in mind, it should come as no surprise that this new foundation was hugely exciting for me. Nars definitely didn't disappoint.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer REVIEW

This new product is one the internet has been going crazy about, with Anastasia Beverly Hills boasting a "unique, triangular tip that can be used three different ways"*.  I have been loyal to the ABH Dipbrow Pomade since last summer, and I totally accept that Anastasia is 'queen of the brow', so I was very excited when I'd heard she was launching a new brow product.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's M&S Autograph Make-up Collaboration

Marks and Spencer recently launched a make-up line collaboration between their own brand, Autograph and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The range is inspired Rosie's supermodel "the girl on the go" lifestyle, and is designed to be easy to travel with and apply whilst on the move. I read online before the launch that it's inspired by an M&S lingerie range modelled by Rosie*. This immediately had me thinking of both dark and feminine sexy hues, so I was already dribbling over the range before it was released.

NYX Liquid Suede REVIEW - Kylie Jenner lip kit dupes?

I love, love, love NYX. It's incredibly affordable and such high quality, easily comparable to high end brands. I recently picked up 3 of their new Liquid Suede liquid lipsticks. I think I have stumbled across 3 colours - completely unintentionally - that could easily dupe Kylie Jenner's Lip Kit.

New Chanel Les Beiges Foundation REVIEW

The new Chanel Les Beiges foundation was the new spring release that I most eagerly anticipated. Chanel's Perfection Lumiere and Lumiere Velvet foundations are both up there in my top 5 favourite foundations, so a new Chanel addition sounded dreamy. No exaggeration: the second I got the e-mail that it had finally been released, I dashed to the nearest counter. Literally.

Unlike their other foundations (at least the ones I've tried), Les Beiges boasts a dewy finish. I've mentioned before that I prefer matte, but I've been giving the dewy look a go, especially now that it's the in-trend. And I think I've finally found a dewy foundation to fall in love with in Les Beiges!

The £1 Lipliners! Review & Swatches

I am a huge fan of lining my lips before applying lipstick in order to make the most of my naturally full lips, which is currently 'trendy'. It's surprising now given the Kylie Jenner craze, that when I was younger I was teased for having big lips! You may have recently read the post of my favourite products of January, in which I spoke highly of Essence lipliners. I have tried quite a few high end lipliners: from MAC, to Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury and Chanel.  I love them all so much that I was quite surprised when I stumbled across a £1 lipliner which was easily comparable to such brands.
