What's New on My Vanity

As a self confessed shop-a-holic and neophile, I'm always getting new things (I swear I am on a budget! I don't know how I'm surviving adulthood, to be honest..) that I'd love to talk about on my blog, but I just don't feel like there's enough to say in one post alone, or that they'd fit into a composite post. So I thought I'd start a new series: What's New on My Vanity, to discuss all the miscellaneous new items I've got.

Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick "Between the Sheets"
I recently won Corrie's Charlotte Tilbury lipstick giveaway, and chose the new shade Between the Sheets (which is now sold out, so glad I got it!). I did a lot of swatch searching before deciding, and I have to admit I was a little bit on the fence about about this because it looked so pink online (I'm more of a mauve/neutral girl). Ultimately the deciding factors were that it was new and limited edition. I am so, so, so pleased I got it. Even more pleased that I won it! It is such a stunning shade. It's a beautiful feminine pink that's perfect for Spring.

L-R: Liar, Naked2
Urban Decay Lipsticks "Liar" "Naked2"
I love Urban Decay lipsticks with a passion, and I recently picked up these two shades. They're absolutely stunning nudes and in my experience, UD lipsticks are incredibly creamy and comfortable to wear, with really dramatic colour payoff.  I can't wait to wear them!

Burts Bees Intense Hydration Set
I won another giveaway! I won a Burts Bees Intense Hydration set from Rebecca. I haven't tried it yet, but it's for "thirsty skin" - which mine definitely is - so I'm looking forward to giving it a go. Especially the night cream.

MAC 170 Brush
I love make-up brushes. I have more than I know how to store, but I can't stop buying them! I was really drawn to the new MAC 170 brush. I use it for my foundation. It's perfect because it's flat topped and fat! It applies my foundation very evenly and the brushes are nice and dense so there's no brush stroke marks. New holy grail, I think! It's selling out fast, I believe, but it's now permanent so don't worry if you can't get your hands on it just yet, it'll still be around!

Benefit Dandelion Blush
I bought this recently so I could compare it to the new Dandelion Dew (see review here). I have to say, I've only used it a couple of times on it's own but I am truly loving it! It's such a beautiful baby pink shade that is so flattering on pale skin tones like mine. It's a soft, easy to blend powder so it looks very gentle and diffused on the cheeks. It's gorgeous, I highly recommend this, especially if you're pale.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Hammamet
I recently did a Nars haul and, what can I say? I'm a Nars addict, so I had to go back for more. I bought the eyeshadow duo in Hammamet and I am so thrilled I did. I was on the fence about it because it's quite similar to another of their shadow duos, St Paul de Vence (although the latter is actually more pink). I've been looking for the perfect rose gold eyeshadow combination and this duo is spot on. The matte shade is a soft brown, while the shimmer is a very opaque copper pink. Such a stunning pair!
L-R: Nyx Porcelain, Rodial Instaglam

Nyx Concealer in Porcelain
I haven't had a chance to try this out yet; I also bought it in lavender and green to test how effectively they colour correct (post will be up soon!). This is a very pale shade, and finding a highlighting concealer is very difficult for us pale folk, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks on me.

Rodial Instaglam Corrector Concealer
I bought this concealer recently and I have had a chance to try it out. It's a pencil concealer, which is unusual. With this type of product I'd instinctively use it just to conceal specific blemishes rather than under the eyes etc. This concealer is so pale though that it's a perfect highlight-concealer for me, so I gave it a go under my eyes and I'm actually surprised how well it works! It's a thick, almost chalky consistency but it's really easy to blend and is actually more suited to being patted in with a beauty blender because, where it's thicker, it's less prone to moving about. Therefore it actually sinks into my fine lines less than I thought it would - result!

As this is my first post in this series, please let me know your thoughts! Is 9 items enough? Too many? Do you like this series? And don't forget to let me know what's new on your vanity!
