REVIEW & SWATCHES: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette

I recently purchased Tarte's Rainforest of the Sea Skin Twinkle Lighting Palette. Before I move on to the review of it, I wanted to quickly mention the shop I ordered it from: Rose's Beauty Store.  They're a stockist of loads of US beauty brands and they ship to the UK as the company is based both in Beverly Hills and London. The prices are a little bit more expensive than if you ordered from the US directly and converted the exact price in $ to £, but the prices on Rose's Beauty Store include tax. I would suggest that you actually save a little money on tax because it cuts out the middle man and charges couriers may slap on top. The shipping rate is excellent at only £2 for standard delivery (around 7 working days) too. Most importantly, it saves a hell of a lot of hassle with additional shipping and unanticipated tax costs*. Anyway, onto the review!

I'm pretty sure this has the prettiest packaging of any product I own. Just look at it! I love the summery, gradated waves pattern. It's so pretty to look at. I'm so tempted to give it a pedestal in my beauty room and display it on it's own! As for what's inside the palette? It only gets better!
How gorgeous are those 3 shades?! From left to right, they are: Sunlight, Filtered Light and Moonlight. Filtered Light is a matte highlight, which I'm not usually a fan of, but it's incredibly flattering. They all look a lovely on! The shimmers in particular have a "highlight to be seen from outer space" finish, they look really pretty at the high points of the cheek bones. My personal favourite is SunlightMoonlight is  more on the champagne side, but it does have some gold in it, which - because I'm so pale - generally doesn't suit me but it was perfect!
L-R: Sunlight, Filtered Light, Moonlight

The formula of the powders is definitely one of my favourite in regards to highlighters. They're very finely milled, and the shimmer shades have beautiful shimmer pigments in them. But you don't get those almost clumpy flakes of shimmer like you do with 'heavy' highlighters. They feel really light weight on the face which I really like. They don't cling to any texture on my skin, which is a problem I do often have with highlighting powders.
They're all incredibly flattering and I should imagine so on different skin tones, too. I have been using this palette every single day for nearly a fortnight, which is a rarity for me because I'm always changing up my makeup routine! In other words: this product is really special. I got mine here

  2. I want everything from this collection just for the packaging alone, but the product sounds amazing too!
