Chanel Le Rouge Collection NO.1 REVIEW & SWATCHES

When the email came into my inbox with the news of Lucia Pica's Autumn 2016 beauty lineup launch, I was beyond excited. It's red themed, so it's totally fall appropriate with lots of warmth. Most of the collection was actually bought for me as an early birthday present, which makes it that extra bit exciting.

The collection has definitely lived up to it's high expectations. I was most excited about the two new shades of Illusion D'ombre, I picked up Rouge Brûlée (the other is a matte brown, which I just didn't feel drawn to, to be honest!). It's a deep, true golden orange that's absolutely beautiful. Warm tones don't usually suit too well on my skin tone, but this surprisingly did and I also got a lot of compliments on my eye makeup when I wore it. I've always loved Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre shadows, they're so creamy and metallic, beautifully long wearing and this new addition is no exception.
L-R: Agape, Rouge Brûlée
I was actually surprised how much I've fallen in love with the Stylo Yeux Waterproof eyeliner in Agape. It's a metallic brown, very thin pencil. It's super smooth so it's incredibly easy to apply precisely, my favourite way to wear it is to tight line on my lid and then to smudge it out with the brown shades in the eyeshadow quad. It really does last all day and the metallic finish isn't over bearing at all and is very understated on the lid, it looks very pretty and complimentary. Chanel's eye kohl is one of my holy grail makeup products, but I've loved this so much I intend on adding the Stylo Yeux Waterproof in matte brown and black to my collection also!
I love the Les 4 Ombres palette in this collection also, named Candeur et Experience. It has a soft brown, medium brown, dark brown and a red shade. They're beautiful warm neutrals, which makes it perfect for an everyday palette, especially in the autumn. Similarly to Rouge Brûlée, these really suit me even though I swear warm tones always look more on the muddy side on me. I love Chanel eyeshadows, they're very soft and pigmented without being excessively powdery, and they blend really well.

L-R: Vie, Ingenue
This collection also sees the release of a few new lipstick shades, from which I chose Rouge Allure Rouge Ingenue and Rouge Allure Velvet Rouge Vie. Chanel lipsticks are another product I've been a huge fan, of for a long time in fact they were a significant factor in my passion for makeup in the first place. They're so beautiful (it's very rare I italicise something that isn't a shade name, so you know I mean it when I do). Rouge Ingenue is a creamy nude from the Rouge Allure range, which has a soft, feminine satin finish. Rouge Vie is from the Rouge Allure Velvet range which is a true matte finish, and is a classic red. It's quite a deep red, but has no plum in it so it's still very bright and bold. I know I just contradicted myself, but do you know what I mean?
I fell in love with the colour of the new blush, too. Rouge Profond is mostly pink with a hint of red in it to make it a slightly darker shade. It has the slightest hint of shimmer in it so it gives you face a very subtle, fresh luminescence. The No.4 blush brush isn't new but it is marketed with the collection. It had been on my wish list for a long time so I saw this as the perfect excuse to finally buy it! It's super soft and perfectly cups the apples of my cheek and blends powder products like a dream come true. I am over the moon its finally in my stash!
Collection NO.1 is obviously expensive, it's chanel, what do you expect? It's definitely one for enthusiasts though, with a lot of the items being limited edition or hard to get hold of. I feel red is such a bold colour to centre a makeup collection around, being such a bold shade. That reason is one of the reasons I love it so much! It's somehow both bold and understated at the same time, but all over elegant. I really really love the collection, I'm not disappointed at all.
What are you lusting after in this collection, do you own any items already?
