November Favourites

As I mentioned in a recent post, my blogging has taken a little bit of a back seat this time of year. Where I'd usually spend my money on new products to review, it's all gone towards Christmas gifts for my family! So I really haven't brought anything new for myself in November, and my favourites are basically what I've been using the most, which is generally whatever is newest (that I've enjoyed, anyway). So please forgive me if this month's favourites are a little lacking.

Dullness is something I've always complained about when it comes to my skin. I am very yellow under-toned so I've unfortunately got a pretty sallow complexion, which I've noticed is more obvious now that the temperature has dropped quite dramatically. I've been reaching for products that give a bit more sparkle to my face, and this is so good! It's technically a colour correcting cream (which is what "CC" stands for, if you didn't know already!), and rather than targeting specific discolouration concerns, it has more of a colour balancing effect. Another complaint I've always had when it comes to my skin is that my skin tone is very uneven. I honestly don't understand how it works, but just a thin layer instantly transforms my typically patchy skin tone into a very even complexion, with a subtle shine. I think it actually has a trace of micro glitter in it because it's uber luminous without being highlighting.  It doesn't have any colour tint in it, so it's buildable - depending on how much of that shine you want - and it comes in two shades (light and medium) so you'll find one that works for you. This has worked miracles when it comes to putting a bit of light back into my skin! This little beauty is part of the Sublime Perfecting range by L'Occitane. I reviewed the whole collection here a while back, if you're interested in reading more!
As I just said, now that my skin's being affected by the cool weather, I am really looking for products which give me my glow back. I have been using Niod's photography fluid on my models for a long time now, but I've recently been using it by mixing a couple of drops into my foundation. The photography fluid is reflective rather than shimmery, so it helps to illuminate my face without it looking shiny.

I have long been searching for a lip balm that actually moisturises and hydrates my lips. This stuff is amazing. Because I have a tendency to lose lip balms, I've never payed more than £3 for one. L'Occitane's is £7, so there's no way I'm losing that one! I keep it on my vanity instead, and use it as part of my daily skincare routine. It's truly so good, it was named Best Lip Balm by The Ultimate Natural Beauty Bible in 2014*. I 100% agree!

Another skin saving product, I use this as a primer.  It does give a subtle luminous quality to the skin, and is really hydrating. The hydrating effect is felt instantly, and I love that it does this without having a water-y consistency and without being greasy. It feels very soothing on the skin, and I find it has a smoothing quality so it's a wonderful base for make-up, even if it's not technically a primer. It's also a beautiful bonus step in your skincare routine to top off your moisturiser with, if you fancy a hydration boost with a touch of luxury.
Ciate Wonderland Mascara
This came in the Ciate x Chloe Morello Beauty Haul, and I raved about it in that post. I just had to give it another mention, it's a seriously amazing mascara. It gives so much volume and lift, I love it. As soon as I've run out of the mini, I'll buy a full sized version, for sure!

I had never been able to 100% commit to using a nude eyeliner in my waterline in favour of my typical black liner. I love the look on other people, but I just couldn't find the right product or technique for me. My favourite black liner of all time is the Chanel Le Crayon Khol in Noir, so in a final bid to find my nude liner soulmate, I got the same liner in the nude shade: Clair. I am all of a sudden loving the look! It makes my eyes seem instantly brighter and bigger. It's so richly pigmented and creamy, it literally glides on and stays put all day. It's official: I am sold on nude liners! Well, this Chanel one (for now).
Mac Nutcracker Sweet Bronze Pigments and Glitter Set
I know I began this post with "I really haven't brought anything new for myself in November" blah, blah, blah, but with all these new gift sets flying around, I just couldn't help myself. I am a huge fan of Mac pigments to begin with, and when I saw this beautiful bronze set I had to! First of all, I love the packaging. It comes in a little slide out box with pink and purple polka dots and gold detailing, I think it's so adorable! Even better, it is actually practical for storage. You get 3 pigments and 1 glitter, and although technically "mini", they're not actually that much smaller than the original pigments. Mac pigments are so - well - pigmented, that a little goes a really long way so these last forever anyway. Most of all, I just fell in love with the colours, You get a pale, sparkly pink, a lighter gold and a deep bronze, and the glitter is a cranberry colour. It seriously screams Christmas time. I'm so glad I bought it, it sold out super fast!
L-R: Reigning Riches, Handsome Prince, Star Dream, Sugar Rush
Apologies for the crappy swatch of the glitter, I'm waiting for my glitter glue to arrive! I kept the picture in though so you can see it actually is glitter, and not just an intense shimmery shadow.

Thank you for reading! Please let me know in the comments what products you've been loving recently, is there any last minute additions I need to make to my Christmas list?

  1. The MAC nutcracker pigments are so gorgeous, I'm so jealous as they sold out everywhere by me and there was no chance in duty free
