Tarte Twinkle Lighting Palette Vol. II | Review & Swatches

I've had this review in my drafts for a while now, pictures done - the lot! I didn't post it initially because I didn't want a cluster of posts about highlighters (a hint at what's to come?), given I recently reviewed Jouer's powder highlighters here.  Anyway, on with Tarte's Twinkle Lighting Palette Vol II.

It was little under a year ago I did a post on the original Twinkle Lighting Palette, I loved it! I love a good highlight palette in general, actually.
Unlike the original, Vol II has 4 shades rather than 3. And they're all super pretty shades.
L-R: Daylight, Skylight, Spotlight, Candlelight
Skylight is a reflective pearl shade that almost has a holographic finish to it, whereas Daylight and Spotlight are beautiful white golden champagne shades for a soft, natural looking sun lit glow. Candlelight is a stunning subtle bronze that is even flattering on my pale skin!
It gives a beautiful highlight; it's not overly metallic but it's got a beautiful glow to it that's very build-able. However it's definitely on the powdery side. It makes a lot of mess in the pan but thankfully it's very finely milled, so it doesn't linger on the face or grab to texture. The powder itself feels very soft to touch.
I've really been enjoying using this overall. It's great if you're a highlight fanatic, it's a great selection of shades in one palette. It's fun to mix them together, too! At around £30 for four highlighters, that's good value, I think. I actually picked it up at a really great price from QVC, at £32 including the fan brush. Which is incredible value! You can shop that duo here. I highly recommend getting it if it appeals to you, it doesn't disappoint.

  1. I can see from the swatches that they're more of a glow than a sparkle. Great for the spring/summer months.
Tarte never fail to make stunning palettes.
