Summer Beauty Must Haves

I'll admit, I'm not a fan of the heat. I'm much more of an Autumn girl. That being said, one of the few things I do love about Summer is the beauty trends. Cheeks get bronzier, skin gets dewier, and lips get more colourful. What's not to love?

Here's a run down of all the beauty products that you're most likely to find me using this summer Summer:

Base
When it comes to the warmer months, there are two things in particular I'm looking for when it comes to my primer: making me glow, and giving my make up longevity. For this, I'd have to recommend using:

Becca Backlight Filter Primer, or L'Occitane's CC Cream. If I really want to glow, I mix a liquid illuminator, like Algenist's Luminizing Drops, Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfecting Liquid or a Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops, into a 'normal' primer (a.k.a non glow-y, like Too Faced Hangover Primer) and/or into your foundation.
When it comes to foundation, I like to keep it lightweight and luminous. My picks have to be Estee Lauder's Cushion Stick Foundation or IT Cosmetics CC Cream (review here). If you feel you need fuller coverage, I'd opt for Nars All Day Luminous Foundation

For me, powder is a necessity to stop me sweating my make up off instantly! But again, I like it to be as light and as invisible as possible. So my choices would be Mac's Prep + Prime Powder or the RCMA No Color Powder. To dust off the excess and buff it all together, I apply Bobbi Brown's Nude Finish Illuminating Powder in Bare all over my face.

Brows: I use the Wunderbrow because this stuff doesn't budge, you're not going to sweat this off.

Bronze, Blush & Glow
In the summer, I swap looking chiselled for sun kissed, and instead of using a contour powder, I'll apply a light-warm golden bronzer to the perimeters of my face. My favourites are Bobbi Brown's Bronzing Powder in Golden Light,or Becca's Sunlight Bronzer in Bali Sands. Both of these have tiny flecks of glitter in them to really warm up and illuminate your face.

For blush, I also like to opt for a product with some subtle shimmer in it for even more glow (are you seeing a theme here?). Shade wise, I like to keep it bright, but light and peachy. My summer favourite is definitely Benefit's Galifornia - it's like summer in a box! Another good option is the cult favourite Nars Orgasm.

For glow - and I know this will come as a shock - but I like to really amp it up. I want to be seen from space, is that too much to ask?! I have so many highlights I almost don't know where to begin, but my favourite highlighters for when I want an in-your-face glow definitely include Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, Jouer Citrine, and Make Up Forever Pro Light Fusion in Golden.

To set it all, I use Algenist's Hydrating Setting Mist. This will lock my look in place all day long, as well as restore the hydration lost through sweating (gross, but come on, it's true).

Lipstick Picks

L-R: Mavala Sunkiss, Bobbi Brown Papaya, CT Electric Poppy, Hot Emily, Bosworths Beauty, Mac So Chaud
For lipsticks, I stray away from liquid lipsticks and am more inclined to use a traditional lipstick, with a beautiful glide to it, a beautiful creme texture and a sheen finish. Colour wise, as well as my normal nude, I do include some brighter colours in my Summer lipstick wardrobe. From Bobbi Brown's Luxe Lip Colour in Almost Bare and Sara Hill I-AM*, to Mac's So Chaud and Mavala Sunkiss*. Not forgetting everything in between, including Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lipstick in Papaya, plus - from Charlotte Tilbury's Hot Lips Collection - Bosworths Beauty, Hot Emily and Electric Poppy. See this post for swatches.
Skin & Body Care:
Of course it's majorly important to wear SPF, and I opt for Bioderma's SPF 50+ Spray* (check out this post for my picks from Bioderma's sun care range). I also like to add a facial oil over the top of my SPF. I am especially loving Pai's Rosehip Oil because it has an orange tint to it which translate on the face as adding a beautiful warmth to your skin that will emphasise your tan.
As for body lotion (because who doesn't want baby soft skin?) I use Palmer's Coconut Oil Body Cream*. To keep the sweating at bay, I use Odaban* (review here, as well as information on hyperhidrosis) and Sukin Natural Deodorant*, which has a delicious scent of lavender, mandarin and vanilla.

Fragrance
For summer, I'm totally obsessed with Nuxe's Fragrant Water*. It smells absolutely delicious - with notes of coconut and vanilla - like a beach in a bottle! Plus, the packaging is totally reminiscent of a beach summer sunset, which is a nice touch.
