Indie British Beauty Brands You Need to Know + GIVEAWAY

Something I am passionate about is shopping independent. When you shop from a big department store, that money is going towards expanding an already huge company, and probably buying a chief executive her second Ferrari. When you shop independently, you're supporting an up and coming brand, helping them to expand their research, product line, marketing, etc. Not only that, but your money is going towards putting food on someones table.

It's easy to source independent brands when it comes to food, clothing, etc (please go and support your local high street, not the supermarket!). But independent beauty brands - especially those that produce products of high calibre to rival what you may have bought on your last trip to a big department store - is harder to come across. As a beauty addict, I made it my mission this year to find some really fantastic independent beauty brands. Not only have I shortlisted my favourites but I've handpicked their best products to put together in a giveaway, which you can enter at the bottom of this post.

Sara Hill Make Up
Sara Hill is a Scottish make up artist who has started up her own make up line. As a make up artist herself, every product is crafted from knowledge of, and passion for, the art of beauty. Her lipsticks are absolutely incredible (and total dupes for Charlotte Tilbury's, formula wise, if I do say so myself) and are insanely pigmented with the softest matte finish. The shade I-AM is my go-to nude, and you may have seen it featured in this monthly favourites post earlier this year. Her Luxurious Face Primer is the best primer in my stash, and you can see it reviewed here

Beauty BLVD
Beauty BLVD caused a storm on the internet with their glitter lips. And - after giving the trend a go myself (which you can read about here) - I was pleasantly surprised that gluing literal glitter on your lips actually creates a fun, wearable look. Beauty BLVD also creates eye masks, lip masks, face/body glitter and lip tints.

Skin Elixir
Founder Shona Munro made her own perfume and moisturiser, after she struggled to find the perfect options for her that are paraben, emulsifier synthetic and cruelty free. Her products are formulated to nourish the skin you're in, and you can tell that the ingredients are ultra-carefully selected because the list of them is so small! Which is a good thing, FYI - who wants to put something on their face that has a long list of chemicals and words you can't understand? Ingredients that made the cut into Skin Elixir's final products were chosen specifically to heal and nurture your skin. You can see the full review of the moisturiser and perfume right here.

Bloomtown Botanicals
I am forever grateful I discovered Bloomtown Botanicals, a company founded by a husband and wife duo who strived to create a truly 100% palm oil and cruelty free beauty company. Their clay masks, which I've reviewed here, are absolute must haves in my skincare cupboard. But they don't just make face masks, on their website you'll find a whole host of beauty goodies: body oil, perfume, exfoliating scrubs, soaps and bath salts. I am very pleased to be able to call myself a Boomtown affiliate! So if you decide to make a purchase, you can get 20% off with the code "MILLIE20".

Mad Beauty
MadBeauty is my go-to company when I'm looking for a novelty gift! MB is the creative company behind biscuit lip balms, stiletto lip gloss, crayon body cream (yes, literally in the shape of a crayon!) and Kellog's cereal bath milk. Check out this post for my Mad Beauty picks.

Green People
A brand which vows to never sacrifice it's ethical values in exchange for profit, Green People's products are crafted with sensitive skin in mind. Every product they produce contains over 90% active organic and natural ingredients, to protect, balance and respect your skin. That being said, Green People doesn't just produce skin care; this ethos also applies to their cosmetics. They have a range of lip products - which I've reviewed here - and their organic Volumising Mascara is another good pick, which you may have read about in this monthly favourites.

Made By Coopers Apothecary
Made By Cooper's is a relatively new company, launched in 2016. Inspired by their travels across India, Clare and Darren created a range of aromatherapy products which are designed to cater to your emotional wellbeing. They have a selection of mists, candles, and aromatic bath salts, scrubs and oils.
