Smith & Cult Lip Stain Review & Swatches

If you caught last month's post on Smith & Cult, you may have already taken the hint that I a kinda' sorta' fell in love with their lip products.
Last month, I tried the shade Love Sucker and was so blown away by the formula, I had to get my mitts on more of Smith & Cult's Lip Stains.  The colour selection is minimal but, that being said, all the colours I do have I really adore. With an exception to Love Sucker, which is more of a loud pink, they're all super wearable and a perfect fit for every make up bag.
Top to bottom: Linger Sigh, Sweet Suite, Mad Heat, Kissing Tiny Flowers, Love Sucker

The Lip Stains come in two different formulas: a matte stain - as S & C call it, "flatte", and a sheer glossy stain. Both are really long wearing and totally kiss proof!  I am also so impressed by the pigmentation of both of the formulas. The flatte lipsticks are so opaque even with first application, and the stains add a gorgeous wash of pure colour that is glossy and sheer without looking diluted - if that makes sense? They add a stunning natural looking, bitten look.

The flatte lipsticks have a plush matte finish that's soft and pillowy that look velvet-like on. The texture is very thick and whipped, but it doesn't feel heavy at all. It doesn't sink into fine lines or grab onto texture or dryness. They're the most comfortable liquid lipsticks I've tried to date, they're so incredibly soft and, despite being transfer resistant, they don't completely dry down so you've always got a comfortable slip. I've found the formula is consistent across the range as well!  At the moment, these are top of my list as far as liquid lipsticks go. I adore the formula.
I'm obsessed with the applicator on these beauties, the doe applicator is wide and super soft, it hugs the curves of your lips and applies the product smoothly and evenly.  And let's just talk amount about the packaging, shall we? How beautiful is the gold packaging with the transparent writing and the curved lid, I love displaying them on my vanity. I know it's about the product on the inside but, let's face it, these are so pretty!

What are your Smith & Cult must-haves, or what's on your wish list?

  11. Love Sucker is so flat. It looks so UN-smooth on. And it is a bluish pink... Almost glow-in-the-dark! I love the others. Just not a fan of Love Sucker. The packaging of all of Smith & Cult's products are too pretty to put in a drawer. They deserve to set on top of vanity!
