What's New From Hourglass? | Review

Hourglass is pretty up there in terms of luxury brands, isn't it? With (by and large) impeccable formulas and price tags to boot (we're talking £50+ primers), I know that when I put Hourglass make up on my face, it is akin to bringing out the big guns.

I've got to say that the latest new releases are no exception.  The new Veil Translucent Setting Powder is beautiful, it's so finely milled and so soft to touch. It melts into foundation seamlessly, and in terms of physically being able to see it on the skin, it's untraceable. It blurs effortlessly into my skin tone and makes my complexion look even and smooth. I haven't found this powder to bunch up or cling to dry patches at all, and it applies flawlessly with a puff, brush and sponge.
You really feel the benefits from this setting powder, too. With some lesser powders I often find that although they mattify for the first hour or two of wear (sometimes a little too intensely, to the point it looks parched and crunchy) they don't actually hold make up in place very well. I've found the Hourglass powder to fix make up perfectly for at least 8 hours. I don't notice any creases in concealer, or any foundation moving about, etc.
The Veil Retouching Fluid is my current hero make up product. It's like a CC cream/concealer hybrid. It has the weightless, light reflecting properties of a CC cream, but the coverage and versatility of a concealer. Because it's on the sheer side (rather than traditional, thick concealer), the actual colour pigment does show up drastically, it sort of blends in with your own skin tone. A little goes a really long way with this gem of a product, just a touch will cover any hormonal redness around my nose; blurs hyper pigmentation on my cheeks; and conceals dark circles under my eyes. Because it's not thick, heavy coverage, it's more like adding a (very effective) filter over imperfections you want to perfect. It's very comfortable to wear, plus the formula contains hyaluronic acid which also makes it nourishing and hydrating.

Honestly I think it's very telling that I don't have anything negative to say about these two new products - but that's just Hourglass, in my experience. Really good products! I highly recommend.

  2. They both sound great, especially that powder. I haven't tried anything from this brand yet but I have my eye on their ambient highlighting palette.
