AD | Heartfelt Can Happen Anywhere: Ideas for Celebrating Valentine's Day

How do you show your loved one how much they mean to you? Whether you prefer to use humour, luxurious gifts or a romantic date night, I've collaborated with Moonpig to share some ideas for celebrating Valentine's Day.

This year my boyfriend Sam and I are going to the Zoo. We've been meaning to go for a while and Sam was owed a day off work which he had to take before March, so we thought we'd visit on a weekday when it's less busy, make it Valentine's Day and it's a romantic double whammy! If you don't fancy that, here's some other ideas:

Personalised Card
Moonpig is obviously famous for their personalised cards and there's lots of different kinds: humorous, sweet and soppy, movie-themed. Basically, if you can think of it, Moonpig has put it on a card. I made Sam a cheeky personalised card, but I don't want to share a picture of it in case he sees it! But trust me. It's filthy.

Novelty Gifts
Moonpig stocks a whole host of sweet novelty gifts* if you want to give your Valentine's Day a cheeky comical feel. Let your girlfriend (or your 'Galentine' with an enviable bosom) know how appreciative you are of her boobies with a mug adorned with tits (of all shapes and sizes!) and booby chocolates. Why not have a game of Perfect Partners, the board game; or buy your partner a Dates Dice for if you're stuck for ideas in the future, with a Date Night Fund money jar to pay for them. Bowling, anyone?

Date Night-In
Sometimes a simple, romantic gesture goes the furthest. A date night-in is always a go-to for Sam and I. A takeaway for dinner (I really wish we could be like a couple straight out of a romcom who cook together, getting flour on their noses and stuff. Alas, we're lazy.)
Pyjamas on, choose a film, and finish off the night with a bottle of wine and some chocolates to snack on. What about a bottle of Sparkling Rose and some yummy truffles?* You could even have a pamper session, Valentine's themed and all with heart shaped Cooling Eye Pads and lip balm*.

Candle-lit Gin & Tonic Picnic
Snuggle up outdoors in a blanket, light a couple of candles and get yourself some battery powered fairy lights for atmosphere, and watch the sunset with the one you love: a glass of G&T. Oh, and your boy/girlfriend.
I ordered the Gin & Tonic Cocktail Hamper* which contains everything we need, Elderflower Gin, Fentimans Tonic Water, Joe & Sephs G&T flavoured gourmet popcorn, as well as G&T flavoured sweets and fudge, wrapped up in an adorable wicker basket. Okay, okay, I know what you're thinking! It's February. It's freezing during the day let alone of an evening! But after all, if you can brave the cold, heartfelt can happen anywhere.

How will you be celebrating Valentine's Day?
