Too Faced Melted Chocolate Liquified Lipstick REVIEW + SWATCHES

Every cosmetics brand under the sun is now selling liquid lipsticks, and TooFaced is no exception; but their product is much more unique.

First of all, the packaging is very unconventional! Out of my large liquid lipstick collection, they're the only ones in a squeezy tube!  I love that the packaging colour matches the product colour, it makes it very easy to shop!  The statement TooFaced gold lid is super pretty and looks great on display, too.
The applicator is very unusual: it's a sponge that you squeeze the product through. I've never known a liquid lip apply like that? I find it works, because you're pressing the sponge on your lip it soaks up any excess liquid so you can a nice, even dispersion of product, no clumpy areas or running etc.

I find the product is a nice liquid formula, it's not drying at all and is one of the few liquid lipsticks you can wear and rub your lips together without fear of it flaking. They feel super soft to wear! They're a demi matte finish which I love; it's not glossy, it's not matte, it's just a perfect in between. I chose not to get the metallic colours because I'm just not that into super shiny lipsticks, but the colours I picked up are beautiful, Chocolate Cherries, Chocolate Honey and Chocolate Milkshake. I take them to University with me because I feel like they cover all possible everyday makeup choices: a red, a nude and a pink, so the Melted Chocolate collection is a really good one!
L-R: Chocolate Cherries, Chocolate Honey, Chocolate Milkshake

I recently wore Chocolate Milkshake with a dewy, glowing natural look and it looked so pretty and feminine. I didn't take a selfie though, sorry! Another bonus about these products is that they smell incredible. Literally like chocolate!

I'm in two minds about the staying power of this, though. The texture of the lipstick - as in, you can see it's a liquid on your lips - wears off pretty quick, and leaves a thin but opaque layer of lipstick. Sort of like a very opaque lip tint; because you can't feel the products on your lip, you can't see the texture of it, but the colour is still there. On the one hand, I love this because it doesn't cling to my lips, feels lightweight and doesn't flake at all. But on the other hand, I feel like if I was going to really dress up and wear a full glam face of make-up, the flat, natural looking lip that this product has to offer isn't really what I'm going for. I don't mean I want to look like Coco the Clown, but if I'm going to wear lipstick, I want it to really stand out, not just sink in and tint my lips. You know? Although granted, the colour is in no way sheer, it is very noticeable.

Either way I really like these products and I think they're great for everyday. But because they don't, in my experience, really make a statement lip, I probably wouldn't opt for even the darkest for a dressed up look. They're still a lovely product, feel very comfortable to wear and are stunning colours. They're reasonably priced, too. They're only £16 which I don't think is excessive.

All in all, I highly recommend! You can buy them straight from the TooFaced website here

  1. I've tried many things from Too Faced but not these!! Chocolate Cherries is such a stunning shade! In all honesty I've been looking for this exact shade for months now! Deep and vampy looking :) xx

  2. Lovely shades. I've tried a shade similar to the chocolate cherries and it is so not my colour. But the shade is so pretty. I hate that I dont look good with it.
