Brand Brag: Dusty Girls

Dusty Girls is a makeup collection by Moo Goo that I first saw on instagram and was instantly drawn to the packaging.I had to try it, but it was all the way from Australia! Thankfully - I'm convinced it's fate that I found this brand - a local pharmacy stocked it! The only one in my part of the UK, too! How lucky is that?! I headed straight down and grabbed a healthy selection.
Dusty Girls makeup is designed to make you look fresh and healthy, like after having spent a day in the sun - which "might be a little dusty", hence the name! It is a brand that very much prides itself on using natural ingredients. They use "natural clays and minerals of the earth" to create makeup that not only makes you look pretty on the surface, but is also formulated to improve the health of your skin. It's also 100% vegan.

What I was most interested in was the Earth Cream. It is especially made for acne prone skin, and although I don't consider that label to apply to me really as I have only had one breakout of acne (due to stress), having experienced it anything that is 'anti acne' and I am sold. Moreover, it claims to have scar repairing abilities thanks to containing Nigella Sativa Oil and Manuka Tree Leaf Oil. I've mentioned a number of times on my blog that these are the biggest problems with my skin because I have a terrible, terrible habit of picking at spots and scabs on my face. I have noticed scars and persistent marks fading a little faster since using this!

At first I was a little put off because - presumably because of the ingredients - it has a very strong scent, which I personally found unpleasant. However it does wear off very quickly! It feels very thick to touch, and I made the mistake of using way too much the first time I applied it! You only need a tiny bit to cover your whole face. Another downside, however, is that it only comes in two shades. When I used too much of the product it was very obviously way too dark for my skin, but when I used a sheer application it looked perfect! Despite using little product though, and considering it's not a foundation, you get a really decent coverage with this! I don't find when I wear these I'm needing to cake on the concealer to compensate for the small amount of product. Although it does feel quite thick at first, once it's blended out it feels really light weight so you can build it up with a foundation if you choose to. Dusty Girls do recommend on their website that, for a fuller coverage, you can apply their Mineral Foundation over the top (I didn't get it as I don't like powder foundations!) I'm also really impressed by the finish. It is so dewy and it looks so natural! I can totally see how this looks like having spent a day in the sun. It looks beautiful used as a sheer foundation with a full face of blush, eyeshadow etc etc, but it's also perfect for days you're feeling lazy and don't want to put a lot of effort into your makeup! However, it has got a lot of oils in it so perhaps if you're more oily skinned I'd steer clear.

My absolute favourite products of the collection have to be the blushes! They come in two shades: Golden Delicious and Pink Ladies.  These are so beautiful! Pink Ladies is a baby pink with a teeny, tiny hint of shimmer in them so they look so pretty and subtly glowy.  Golden Delicious is a warm, pale terracotta that at first I didn't think would suit my pale skin, but it's honestly so gorgeous and summery.

There's also of course a Bronzer in the shade Sunshine, and the name is definitely accurate! It's a warm shade that's highly pigmented to really give your face a sun kissed look. Despite being very highly pigmented, it's not excessively powdery and is very easy to blend to a natural looking finish.

There is also a mascara. If you have sensitive eyes, you need this in your life! It's formulated with Acacia Gum, which is a naturally sourced alternative to chemicals commonly found in mascaras, and so will not irritate your eyes. It has a glossy finish to it so your eyes look really pretty. It is a very thin mascara so it doesn't clump in the slightest! It gives a little volume but it is not very dramatic, so I use this for everyday looks and not for dramatic eye makeup. It's a nice and small tube so it's perfect to throw in your handbag for throughout the day touch ups! The wand is a perfect size to grip and get into the upper lashes, however I find it a little too fat to really coat the lower lashes.
I always love getting my hands on new lipsticks! Who doesn't? The Dusty Girls lipsticks are a little special though, made with some really wonderful ingredients, including shea butter, vitamin E and jojoba oil.  They feel so good on the lips! They're perfect for the warmer weather; they're so light weight and moisturising. I picked up two nude shades, the darker Cacao Shake and the lighter Maca Nude. My favourite is definitely Cacao Shake, it has a bit more pigment to it which I personally prefer. Maca Nude is more on the sheer side, so is lovely for no makeup makeup looks, or to give your lipstick a little shine with a hint of colour!

Another favourite item I picked up from this range that I've absolutely fallen in love with and have been using pretty much everyday is the lip gloss in "Sun Shower".  It is a clear gloss that is honestly just amazing. It's incredibly smooth and isn't in the slightest sticky or tacky! It has more of a thin, watery consistency. It gives your lips such a high shine without looking greasy! It doesn't wear very long when you're eating and drinking, but I've had such trouble finding lip glosses that aren't sticky, I'm happy to sacrifice long wear time. That being said, the container is nice and small and lightweight so it's no hassle to just pop it in my handbag for touch ups.

I love all the packaging of this brand, it's super duper adorable! It's brightly coloured, has got beautiful, whimsical illustrations on both the boxes and the product, it's so cute. I have really fallen in love with this company, I can't wait to try some Moo Goo skincare. I love their ethics and commitment to natural ingredients, as well as the fact they draw their inspiration from the outdoors. I've lived in the country side my entire life so the idea of "spending the day in the country" actually rings very true to me.
I highly, highly recommend giving Dusty Girls makeup a go if you can. You can have a look on their website to see where it's stocked. It's definitely worth it, especially if you're passionate about cruelty free makeup!
