Clinique Take the Day Off Oil & Balm Review

I think, from personal experience when I first started wearing make up, that removing make up is an often overlooked part of a skincare routine, but it's very important. In the past few years where I've been ritually removing make up, I've gone through a lot of different products.

This Clinique Take the Day Off duo is the best I've used by far. I'll start with the oil:

I was struggling to find a decent eye make up remover for what seemed like forever! I wear eyeliner every day I wear make up and I don't wear false eyelashes so I'm always mascara-d to the max! Up until I used this oil - no matter how hard I scrubbed at my eyelids with any of the removers/cleansers I've used before - I always woke up with black smudges around my eyes, even if the area looked clean when I went to bed. I first found the oil in a value set with a mascara and pep start, and I fell in love.

I soak a cotton pad with it, then press the cotton pad onto my eye lid for between 40 and 60 seconds, depending on how much make up I've got on. When I remove the pad, all that's left - no matter how smokey the eye or how thick the wing - there's just a hint of mascara residue left. I use whatever's left on the cotton pad to just wipe it away, and it's all totally gone. It's so effective! Plus, it doesn't irritate my eyes at all. I also have dry skin, so anything  with oil in it is good by me!

Now onto the balm:

I was reluctant to get this at first because of all the hype surrounding it, but I'm so glad I caved. This is the epitome of easy, quick, yet effective skincare. Just a fingertip amount massaged into my entire face will just melt away even the most full coverage of foundations. You get the idea; this stuff works! I've noticed it's particularly amazing at removing liquid lipsticks! What I love most about it though is that it's actually doing good things to my skin. It leaves it feeling so soft and smooth and I've noticed a huge improvement in my skin since using it. I adore the texture of it, it's like an ultra soft oil infused-gel-wax-moisturiser hybrid. Once you start to massage it in, it honestly feels like silk.
I highly recommend this if you're looking for a make up remover!  It may be expensive, but it does last a long time. I got my tub before Christmas and I've still got easily half left.

  4. I've also realized (too late?) that good skin care really matters and removing ALL of the makeup.
This oil for eye makeup sounds great, I can't take my waterproof eyeliner with anything, there's always something left... I'll definitely check it out.
