My review of Bobbi Brown's original Art Stick is one of my most viewed posts of all time. Now, just over a year on, I'm reviewing the Art Stick in it's new liquid form! I picked out four of my favourite shades to try out; read on to see what I thought!
Firstly, I like that Bobbi Brown has become a little more updated, I can't think of any products that the brand has ever launched that have followed any already existing trends, and we all know liquid lipsticks have swept across the beauty world in ever growing popularity in the last year or so (something to do with Bobbi Brown herself stepping down at the end of 2016, perhaps?)
I am somewhat disappointed by this new liquid lipstick. I wish I could say it is because I am used to the typical matte formula liquid lipstick, but I prefer liquid lipsticks to have a satin finish. My issue is actually with the wear time, which really isn't that impressive. I'm sure if you didn't eat or drink anything it'd last all day, but that's unrealistic. After just one drink it starts to come unstuck, becoming patchy and - in my experience - I've noticed it really grabs on to dry patches of my lips, even more so than matte liquid lipsticks, surprisingly! I never thought I'd say this about a Bobbi Brown product but I'm glad I only bought four, given they don't wear very well they're not practical and I doubt I'll be reaching for them that often. In contrast, the original Art Stick has an incredible wear time, and I can't recommend it enough.
Now I've got the main negative comment out of the way, I do actually really enjoy the texture of it while it lasts. It's ever so soft, and almost has a plush feel to it. It really is pleasant to wear, and it has a subtle mint scent to it. The colour is very opaque and pigmented, and the selection is great with over 15 shades to choose from. That being said, a lot of them are the same as the originals (like, literally exactly the same, just different formula) which I was a little disappointed in.
I love the applicator, I think it's really inventive. The fact you can squeeze the exact amount of product up is really useful, and is surprisingly easy to control and makes the product easily build-able. My only criticism is that once you've squeezed them and the tube becomes mis-shapen, they're not pretty to look at anymore! But that really doesn't matter, does it? Just if you're like me and you take pride in your beauty space and like to display your things, it's just a minor negative comment!
Overall - I hate to say it - but I won't be buying any more. It's up to you if you want to give it a go, but for me personally, I'm disappointed. Check out the new Art Stick Lipsticks here though, and be sure to let me know what you thought!
If you have tried them already, what did you think?

ReplyDeleteI don't think I will bother but I wasn't really tempted anyway :/
ReplyDeleteLovely shades! Especially Honey Bare. Such a shame they didn't work well
ReplyDeleteYou are so good at picking out shades - I've never personally tried any Bobbi Brown sticks but I am so tempted to buy one of their pillarbox red ones. Honey bare though looks like the perfect nude though. I wish I had more confidence to wear more make up looks, and test make up but I'm hoping that over the summer I can update my make up collection. I'm soo behind on the liquid lipstick trend - have you tried any nyx or kylie jenner products? x x x
ReplyDeleteThe Nyx liquid suedes are nice and the colours are fab dupes for the original Kylie Lip Kits! Never tried Kylie's make up though x
DeleteI love bold colours so papaya is the best
