Happy Saturday (or whatever day of the week you're reading this) my lovely readers! I mentioned in a recent post how much I was talking about highlighters recently and hinted at another highlight post ... and voila! Here it is! Keep reading to find out my thoughts on the Zoeva Strobe Gels!
When I saw these online I was so intrigued. I love a good cream highlight - but I've never heard of a gel formula before. Safe to say I snapped them up pretty quick. I bought all three shades, Corona, Halo and Aureole (I always read that as aureola...).
Halo is a beautiful, angelic (pun intended) soft shade of pink, and Corona is a slightly deeper, peachier pink. Aureole is a shimmery bronze.
They're not as intensely metallic on the face as I first thought they would be, but you can easily build them up to be as much of a beaming be-seen-from-space highlight as you desire! They're very light weight and don't move around at all, and - even better - they don't meddle with any make up you may be wearing underneath (including powders!), which is an issue I sometimes encounter with cream highlighters.

I am really enjoying the gel formula, although I didn't like the way it applied with my finger (which isn't necessarily a complaint, I mentioned in a recent Nars concealer review how I avoid using my fingers to apply make up if I can). The way I apply it is I scoop a little out of the tub with my finger, and initially apply it to the back of my hand. I blend it out very gently, more so to work out any 'lumps', until it's a nice, thick almost liquid consistency. Then I take it on my beauty blender and apply to the high points of my face. This way works very well for me!
Now onto the packaging: I adore the jar, and they're actually really big. I honestly was expecting it to be around the size of a £2 coin or something. They're also very affordable, being only £11 each for a sizeable 15ml of product.
I also love that, even when you mess up the pretty, smooth gel when you dip your fingers into it, let it settle for a few minutes and it snaps back to being like new. It's like magic! I know this is a really minor detail, but as somebody who likes to photograph/display their make up - this is a great characteristic for a product to have.
Oh this sounds lovely! I'll have to try this at the nearest Sephora xx

Cream highlighters just don't get on with my skin but these gel ones have got me really intrigued. I really like the Halo shade, may have to pick it up and add to my ever growing highlighter collection lol x

Oooooh. These look absolutely stunning! My skin doesn't get on very well with cream highlighters therefore I prefer to stick with powders however these gel ones may work a bit better for my skin. I'm very intrigued by these! x

ReplyDeleteI'm a bit obsessed with highlighters and strobing at the moment (like every girl lol) and this was an interesting read, I would pay the money for a good one. I enjoyed reading your review and discovering this. I'm sure it's worth paying the 11 pounds as it would last for ages, I will take your tip too applying it to the back of my hand and using a beauty blender to apply! Great review

I haven't ever got on with a cream highlighter. They don't settle right on my skin. It's a shame because these look lovely.
