From the range of existing products, I got:
I bought two matt blushes, and one satin. I must admit there isn't a huge amount of difference between the matt finish and the satin finish, at least it isn't majorly obvious. That being said, they are all incredibly silky soft. Like, much softer than, for example, Mac blushes!
Matt Lipstick
L-R: Peach Me Up (Matt), Berry Me Up (Matt), Satin Love (Satin)
They're also beautifully pigmented, you get a huge amount of colour pay off. They are so smooth and easily to blend that you really can't go over board with these. They're definitely some of the best blushes in my stash, and they're only £1! Yes - you read that right! - A quid!Matt Lipstick
For only £1, this is fantastic. It has a true matt finish beyond a doubt, and is not drying or heavy in the slightest. It lasted around 3 hours (including drinking out of a bottle, eating etc) before it started to flake around the inside of the mouth, but the bulk of it stayed on; unless you were looking for it, you couldn't tell. I am head over in heels in love with the nude shade I picked up!
L-R: Long lasting lip liner Rosewood High, Brick Dust, Matt Lipstick #01, Velvet Stick Nude Hero, Peony Star

What's New?
I'm not 100% sure this is new, it had a new sticker next to it by the display, but I'm not sure how long it had been since that display had been updated! Anyway, my first impressions are that they are matt, but have a really beautiful, buttery consistency! The colour selection is fabulous and I fully intend on buying the red shade, too. These remind me of Nars's velvet matte lip pencils and Mac's Velvetease!
Long Lasting Lip Liner

I have been a big fan of Essence's original lip liners for a long time, so when I saw these new ones I was enthralled. They are very pigmented with a huge amount of colour pay off, and they really glide on the lips. They are so soft and creamy in texture, you'd never guess they were less than £2! The colour also really lasts really well. These remind me of a Nars product, too; the formula is very similar to Nars lip liners!
Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder

Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder
This was the product that caught my eye when I walked past the Essence display - I had no intention of buying any make up when I was out (I'm weak). It's so beautiful! I got the lighter shade, and it's a beautiful blend of neutral pale brown and light warm brown.
It's absolutely perfect for pale skin tones, I'd actually say it's a much better option than most luxury bronzers! It has tiny micro flecks of shimmer in, to add an illuminating, sun kissed effect to the skin without being over bearing. I'm in love already!

Keep It Perfect! Make Up Fixing Spray
This is a setting spray designed to keep your foundation mattified. I did find it did this! It did keep my make up in place, although not as long as, for example, Urban Decay's setting spray. But then again, this is only £3! It did have the effect where it blurs all your products together, too - it reminded me a little of Mac Fix+ in this respect. I think this will be a staple in my handbag for summer, to keep make up from being melted by sweat!

I was really intrigued when I saw this. I love a good eyeliner - I wear it most days - but have never come across a cushion eyeliner. In fact, I've never jumped on the cushion beauty hype in general, never tried a cushion product! You take your eyeliner brush and press it into the cushion and the liquid transfers onto your brush. I was expecting it to be very watery, but it wasn't. It's really opaque and has a beautiful satin finish; it's not shiny, but it's not matt either. I did find it started to flake ever so slightly after a few hours, sadly. That was the first time I wore it though, so I'm going to give it a few more chances yet!
As a side note, I've never seen an Essence product that is not an outright copy of a higher end brand (controversial topic of late?) - I always give kudos to brands for combining inspiration with originality when it comes to creating 'dupes', rather than blatantly ripping off. Make up is an art, I highly recommend Essence as brand that respects artistic integrity whilst still catering to beauty addicts on a lesser budget!

I am a fan of Essence too and I also purchased some of their new products. Their blushes are the best, so pretty and amazing quality and I would also love to try their matt lipsticks but they are sold out here and they told me that they will not restock soon :(

Also, this setting spray now has a new edition - matte - and everybody is saying it's way better than this one...

ReplyDeleteThanks for the review, the lip-liners look great x
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this brand before. Unfortunately we live on the North Cornwall coast and our local chemist is tiny and only sells No7, Rimmel and Maybelline, to get to a bigger store with a better collection we have to drive miles. We live in a beautiful part of the world but we lose out on something's, but you can't have it all!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a new brand to me and I would love to try their products. It's also affordable which is brilliant! I really like the blushes you got.

ReplyDeleteI cannot believe what a bargain price these products are ! Unbelievable that in this day and age you can still get such bargain products
ReplyDeleteI have read a few good reviews about essence but I've got to admit I don't own many of their products due to the price, but I have read that their single eyeshadows are fab and those blushes you bought above look excellent. I will be looking out for this brand now, I'm a sucker for blusher! Thanks for the review
ReplyDeleteI've heard a lot of great things about Essence, but haven't gotten around to trying them yet. I think they only carry them at Ulta in the US.
