I am so pleased that September is here, it's the best month. It's my birthday on the 8th; Autumn begins on the 22nd; and, don't deny it, the countdown for Christmas lowkey starts now.
September has started on a high, I got my hair dyed this morning so I'm feeling fresh! I got some fabulous blogger mail, and some more amazing opportunities made their way into my inbox! I'm determined to make the blog jam packed with incredible content this month. Anyway, here's what I've had been loving through August:
The Ordinary Vitamin C Suspension
I bought this to help tackle my pigmentation. I've got to say firstly that, this product definitely has cons. I can't stand the formula. It's a thick liquid with a sticky silicone like feel to it (think the consistency of Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer, without the softness). It also has a tendency to bunch up and clump together and form goopy little balls on my face, especially when product is layered on top of it. Despite this, I am on a budget at the moment and I really wanted to inject some strong Vitamin C into my skincare routine. Horrible formula aside, this product has incredible results. Within two nightly uses, the pigmentation on my forehead had disappeared completely, and the harsher pigmentation on my cheeks is noticeably fading everyday. And for £4.60? I'm just going to shut up about the formula.
Less Is More Lavender Smooth Balm*
I am not a hair care guru. In fact, hair care is probably the only aspect of my life in which I consider myself a minimalist. I've recently been loving this hair balm by Less is More. As someone with very, very thick hair, my barnet is prone to being frizzy and in a perpetual state of tangled. After I've washed my hair, I towel dry it and, if I have time, I let it partially air dry. I'll message the balm into my hair when it's more than damp, but it's not dripping. I find it makes my hair much smoother, shinier, softer to touch and tames the tangles so it's a hell of a lot easier to brush. This product still gets even better, the lavender fragrance is lovely and lingers in my hair all day, and it's 100% organic!
Laura Geller Lash Boss Mascara*
This is my current go-to mascara when I want dramatic lashes. This mascara adds a volume, curl and length - what more could you want? I love the wand, it's double sided with one side being much smaller and slimmer, so it's perfect for wiggling into the lower lashes without getting black smudges everywhere!
Dr Hauschka Sheer Lipstick*
When I first received these and saw the name, I was hesitant. When it comes to my lippies, I am an opaque girl. Normally, when I think sheer, I think of a visible, sticky slick of colour on the lips. Not a flattering image. However, these sheer lipsticks are the opposite of that and I am obsessed.
Top to bottom: #01, #03
You can't tell you have lipstick on, instead these give my lips a stunning wash of colour that totally compliments the natural shade of my lips. They have a glossy finish, so the end result is really a your-lips-but-better situation. These are now, hands down, my absolute go-to lipstick for casual, everyday make up.
Nars Bord de Plage Highlighting Palette
I wanted this for so, so long and I managed to resist. I'm so glad I finally caved, this is the most gorgeous palette I own, easily. With two bronzers - Laguna (light warm bronze) and Casino (medium warm bronze) - and four highlighters: Rivage (pale champagne), Crique (pale gold), Corniche (pale pink) Galet (gold). This is definitely a must-have palette in the make up stashes of glow junkies. I love the packaging of it, too. It's got an almost tortoise shell print on it, it's definitely a stand out piece on my vanity.
Top to bottom: Rivage, Crique, Laguna, Corniche, Galet, Casino
The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the size of the bronzers. It's commonplace to use a bigger brush to bronze with and it's very difficult to pick up product from the small strip of bronzer, I think Nars could have made the palette a touch wider.

ReplyDeleteI like a decent mascara and this one I would consider. My hair is thick and frizzy too and I can honestly recommend Alberto Balsam Smooth and Sleek shampoo and the conditioner. Supermarkets often have it on offer for £1 a bottle and bargain shops like Home Bargains and the pound shop sell it too.My hair - and I've got bleached hair - is shiny and sleek for the first time in years. I love it
