Skincare Line Up: BLUE

If you didn't catch the first instalment of this new series on my blog, you can find it here. The gist of it is that, I love skincare and I thought by grouping my products into colours it'd be a quick and easy (and photogenic) way of showcasing some of my favourite skincare products.

Cleanser & Serum
To cleanse, I love (Malin + Goetz)'s Grapefruit Cleanser*. I really enjoy using this, this is my go-to cleanser for when I feel my skin needs a real deep clean. I reviewed it in depth here
I focus a lot of my attention on my serum, as it's where I feel I get the most out of my skincare routine. If my skin is feeling rough and looks lacklustre, I opt for First Aid Beauty's Resurfacing Liquid. Containing 10% AHAs, this is an incredible  exfoliant. I find its great for addressing uneven skin tone and unwanted texture, as well as promoting radiance. I have found it to be really effective.
If my skin is feeling very dry and looks dehydrated, I'll reach for the Institut Esthederm Hyaluronic Serum*.  It contains a highly concentrated form of hyaluronic acid so is excellent for quenching thirsty skin. I find this is great for restoring some colour into my skin when it's dull from dehydration, and generally soothing any discomfort.

Moisturiser & SPF
As for moisturiser, I opt for Bliss Fabulous Drench'n' Quench*, which - as the name suggests - is formulated with dry skin types in mind. This is really worth looking into if your skin is on the drier side. It's a lovely whipped texture that is cooling and soothing for irritated dry skin, but it's also intensely hydrating. It's like a drink of water for your skin, leaving your face feeling rehydrating and refreshed.
I always layer SPF over my moisturiser during the day time, and for my 'blue' routine, I use La Roche Posay's Hydraphase SPF20*. It's technically a moisturiser with an SPF, but - because I'm just that extra - whenever I have a moisturiser containing SPF, I prefer to think of it as an SPF with a hydrating formula, and never use it in place of an ordinary moisturiser, but as well as.

Night Time
For night time, I like to run a Bliss Glycolic Resurfacing Pad* across my face in place of an acid toner. This is like a step up from an acid toner, containing spa strength glycolic acid. I massage it all over my face until the little cloth is completely dry. This is an exceptional exfoliant. It tingles the entire time I use it, so I can actually feel it working its way through the skin and overturning dead skin cells. This is really helping my pigmentation and also leaves my skin brighter.

Every other night I use a retinol, and my current pick is Sunday Riley's Luna Sleeping Night Oil*. Retinol - otherwise known as Vitamin A - is an exfoliant that can penetrate more deeply into the epidermis than typical exfoliants. This is why I use it every other night, rather than nightly. The only thing I don't like about this oil is the liquorice smell, but other than that, I couldn't ask anymore from a product.
Retinol is commonly marketed as an anti-ageing product but I use it to target my pigmentation, and I have noticed a huge difference. I wake up the morning after using this with my pigmentation dramatically faded. My entire complexion is notably brighter and clearer. This is definitely an investment product but I've had excellent results, I can't recommend it enough!

Masks & Treatments
Whenever my under eye area is looking particularly dark and saggy (very recently since I've been staying up 'til 2am for Game of Thrones, I'm not pleased season 7 is over but I think my skin is thankful for the earlier nights!) I like to use an eye mask, and I've been loving the Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energising Eye Mask*. These are great for restoring elasticity to your eyes and reducing puffiness. I love that they really wake you up, both literally and appearance wise. This is great for an instant pick-me-up on early mornings.
(Malin + Goetz) Detox Face Mask* is another one of my favourite face masks for when my skin needs a deep clean (full review here), and my top pick for when my skin is feeling dehydrated is Vichy's Mineral Mask. Enriched with Vichy's thermal water, this works to rehydrate dry skin and offer an energising cooling effect to calm skin irritations.
