NEW Maybelline Dream Matte Blush Review

I'm hating this short, quick style blog post; where I post some pictures of a product I've been using lately, post pictures of swatches and quickly type up some thoughts. I much prefer being thorough.

My last exam is on tomorrow, and then I'm done - all my time will be dedicated towards my blog and freelance photography. I'm so excited and I have so much planned that I can't wait to get started on.

Anyway, lately I've been trying out the new Dream Matte Blushes from Maybelline. Like every girl between the ages of 11 and 15, I was a die hard fan of the Dream Matte Mousse way back when, pre-2010. Those days are long gone (with good reason) but I was intrigued when I saw these new 'Dream Matte' additions on the Superdrug shelves.
I'm obsessed with the texture of this. It's so light and soft and plush, it feels amazing. But, more importantly, I love the effect these blushes give. The pigment is quite sheer but builds up to a really pretty wash of colour. The swatches below took three dips back into the pot to get the solid colour. But that's a plus in my books; I think when you have a blush that's too pigmented, it's all too easy to apply it too heavily and end up looking like a clown. In terms of pigment, these are really spot on when it comes to what I look for in a cream blush.
They look so pretty on the face. Because they're matte and not dewy, it is just adding pure colour to the cheeks and not a mixture of colour and sheen, or an all-over-glow kind of deal. They're perfect for creating a classic rosy flush. I find dabbing a couple of 'layers' on is enough to give my face a pinch of colour.
For little over a fiver each, they're fab. Most high street shops/drug stores tend to have deals on so you're likely to get them even cheaper. I bought these two they were on buy one get one half price, so I scored two for under a tenner. I have to say I highly recommend these, so do get yourself down to your local Superdrug and give these a go!

  2. These sound amazing! I like cream blushes a lot - which is strange as I wouldn’t go for ‘cream’ formula in much else personally. I will definitely try this out, specially as they are so affordable! Looking forward to seeing more content from you girl, absolutely love your blog xxx
