January Favourites

Over two weeks into February and I'm finally at it with a new blog post! The light has just been so dismal that it's so hard to take photos I'm happy with, hence the delay.

I have so many ideas, honestly, and I'm not even struggling to point pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), it's just finding a time when the lighting isn't grey and overcast, at a time when I'm not at Uni!

But without any further ado, I'm going to take a look at what I've been loving lately:

Pixi Rose Cream Cleanser
This is a nice and simple, gentle cleanser. Formulated with mud to cleanse impurities, and with a lovely rose scent that isn't too over powering. This is a really enjoyable no-fuss cleanser, it doesn't foam or lather, it melts into the skin and leaves it feeling nice and soft, and doesn't leave it with that horrible dry, and dehydrated taut feeling.

Alpha H Liquid Gold
Liquid Gold is still in my night time line up,  this is the second bottle I've been through, and I also have two back ups! So you get the picture: I'm obsessed. This is an overnight glycolic acid treatment, in effect, it's a peel. Even after about 4 months of using this, the formula is still strong enough to give my skin a 60 second tingle when I first apply it, so I can really tell it's packed with glycolic acid. This has made such a big difference to my skin, literally after one treatment I notice that hyper pigmentation has faded. I've also been using it to keep my hormonal breakouts at bay, as a chemical exfoliant I find this really effective at unclogging pores and consequently clearing up my skin.

Smashbox Primer Oil
I am a dry bitch, and I live for a good facial oil. This one is formulated to be worn under foundation and let me tell ya', I'm impressed. Although I am dry, adding this oil doesn't make me a greasy slip and side or make my foundation slide off my face. It actually kind of creates a silky, ultra hydrating 'film' between skin and the foundation, and I find my base looks so luminous. I use it especially to prevent what are the most obvious tell-tale signs of dryness on me, which is creasing/cake-y foundation around my mouth and nose.

BareMinerals Bare Pro Foundation
My current daily foundation of choice is the Bare Pro Foundation from BareMinerals. The formula is a very light, thin liquid, and goes on sheer but builds up to a full, flawless coverage. I think it looks really natural and doesn't look like a 'mask' at all, it's nice and smooth, blends well, layers well, plus it's a semi-matte finish so it's not too dry but not too dewy either - it ticks all my boxes.

ByTerry Gem Glow Trio Compact
I was initially disappointed with the packaging. It's very light, thin plastic and for a £48 (!!) product, I'd expect something more substantial. Looking past that, the actual powder really is beautiful. It's so finely milled, it doesn't grab to any texture. Leaving a seamlessly smooth, ultra reflective highlight. It's got different colours in the same pan and mixed together it makes a pale rose gold shade which I think is really, really flattering.
