Ciate Extraordinary Foundation Review

I've been testing this new foundation from Ciate for a month now and, spoiler alert: it's definitely become one of my firm favourites.

Application & Texture

This is a really smooth liquid and blends beautifully. I like to buff it in with a Japonesque foundation brush to get a smooth, even coverage. Other products - powder, liquids and creams - layer seamlessly over it and melt in together perfectly. A minimal layer of foundation is perfect and sits comfortably on my skin, although my only complaint is that despite not using a lot of product, I would say this feels relatively heavy unfortunately. It's still completely comfortable, but I wouldn't concur with Ciate's description that it's like a 'second skin' because you can feel you're wearing foundation. Having said that, I don't think it looks cake-y or heavy.

I was beyond impressed with the coverage. It's advertised as buildable medium coverage, but I found it full coverage. I use about a pump to cover my entire face, which I'd say gives more of a medium-full coverage on it's own. I then use a fraction of a pump - so I have literally a pea sized amount of product to work with - to dab onto areas where I want full coverage. This covers everything and achieves a really porcelain-like, flawless finish. So it's a very generous medium coverage at the very least, but I would describe it as full to be honest.

Finish & Wear
The finish is gorgeous. It's dewy and luminous, but it's not greasy and it doesn't move around. I always set my under eye with powder and do dust a pressed powder all over my face, but neither knocks the radiance out of the finish. I found my finished face had a natural, healthy skin-looking luminosity to it. I love how smooth the finish is, my face looked so even and flawless because the foundation didn't grab to any dry patches or exaggerate pores. It wore really well, I felt really happy with how my make up looked all day. Like most foundations, it obviously did let oil through after several hours of wearing it, but honestly - as someone who's skin is on the drier side - I'm not mad about looking a bit shiny. I know that's a majorly unpopular opinion, but I've never really felt the need to blot and I honestly don't hate looking 'sweaty'! The picture below is totally unedited and shows how the foundation looks after being worn for 13 hours with no touch ups. As you can see I'm definitely shiny, but the foundation hasn't actually broken up (except from a little around my nose) whereas the concealer has - interesting, right?!

I'm really in love with the packaging. The foundation is in a soft-touch matte nude pink squeezable tube - an ideal travel companion: it's lighter and smaller than a glass bottle, and obviously less glass = less chance of breakage! It also has a pump which is perfect, so much more hygienic and easier to use than a foundation with no pump! I really love the packaging, it's tactile, practical and the star motif is adorable.

I have been reaching for the Ciate Extraordinary Foundation a tonne - I'm a huge fan of it, it's really beautiful and perfect for achieving a natural looking radiant finish that won't slip around your face, especially in the summer time! This is absolutely one of my favourites now - I love it, and would recommend it especially to ladies with skin on the drier side and those of us who are partial to a full coverage or buildable foundation.
