NEW Benefit Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation Review

I'm a big fan of Benefit's Hello Happy Soft Blur Foundation - the lightweight demi-matte finish original - so safe to say I was intrigued when they introduced their newest addition.

I ordered it as soon as it came out and have been testing it ever since! Before I go in depth about my own experience with it, let's take a look at what the claims are:

"brighter, hydrated flawless-looking complexion. This medium coverage liquid foundation feels lightweight, looks natural and is virtually undetectable on skin. Contains photochromic pigments that instantly adapt to brighten skin in any lighting, flower acids to help boost radiance and hyaluronic acid to attract moisture to the skin's surface and help maintain hydration"

Application & Texture
It has a fine, light weight texture and a very thin consistency, although not runny. So naturally it does start off as having quite sheer coverage, but it builds really beautifully. An extra pump goes a really long way! It blends really well and has a soft finish, no cake-yness, and no greasy or dry patches.

It seems to be a rule when it comes to foundation that matte is full coverage and anything promising hydration tends to be sheer. But Benefit seem to have turned this 'rule' on it's head. Like it's predecessor, Flawless Brightening offers impressively buildable coverage. When I first tried this I had a bit of reddish inflammation on my cheek from prodding a spot (at least I'm honest?) and to be frank: I didn't expect this to cover it; I expected to be going over the redness with layers of thick cream concealer afterwards. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that just a small amount of this new Hello Happy foundation did the trick! The redness obviously wasn't invisible, but it was hidden - I don't think anybody else noticed the inflammation, but I saw it because I knew it was there, if that makes sense - which is all I can ask of a foundation.

Finish & Wear
If you're on the oilier side, tend to be a fan of full coverage, or often stay away from foundations with claims of glow/radiance/luminosity et al, don't be perturbed by all the claims this new foundation has.  When Benefit said they've formulated this to 'help boost radiance', that's what they meant. Hello Happy Flawless Brightening Foundation creates a lit from within glow that looks very natural and healthy, not highlighted and greasy - the latter often being the outcome of foundations that promise a luminous look. When I've worn this, I don't look in the mirror to be met with a sweaty looking image of myself, or see my foundation sliding around my face.
Above: 5+ hour wear, no touch ups
I wore this foundation for at least 8 hours on multiple occasions and had no issues. Obviously as it's not a matte foundation it isn't going to control oil through the day, but - especially given other experiences I've had other radiant foundations - it was still fine and I'm personally not mad about a little shine - if anything, I like it. That being said, a little powder was needed after around 5 hours but that's expected, so not an issue at all. I also wore it after going to a prison themed escape room (ahem, I was sweaty) then going to work and it held up all the way through both.

I much prefer the packaging to this newer foundation than the previous Hello Happy product. This time around, Benefit have given us a bottle with a pump! Pumps are obviously much easier to use and more hygienic, so that's always a plus. As always, Benefit have nailed the packaging: the pink lid and smiling Hello Happy motif is lovely. The bottle this time is very sturdy, which is something I like.

Have you tried this new foundation yet? What are your thoughts?
