Summer Beauty Empties: Make up, Skin, Body & Hair Care

I've been hoarding my empty tubes and tubs over Summer and I've accumulated quite a lot! I go through a lot of beauty products; some I end up loving, some not so much.

Take a look at what I've used up over the last couple of months:

Make Up
This isn't the first time this has appeared in my empties! It's the only pressed powder I use these days; it's the best. It's controls shine and smooths over skin, but it's not quite matte. It's got a matte-to-satin finish that is so beautiful. It's very fine and doesn't look cake-y or grab to texture. The only powder I need!
Repurchase? I did about a week ago!

My go-to brow product for the best part of 5 years has been the Brow Wiz by ABH. It's the perfect brow pencil: not overly pigmented, but enough to give some definition, and slim enough to be detailed and accurate. In my opinion, this is the best brow pencil for natural looking brows.
Repurchase? Well in advance of this one running out, but I bought the shade Dark Brown, which is a cooler tone than Medium Brown

Medik8 Hyaluronic Acid
This was okay. I don't have any complaints but I'm not raving about it either. There's similar types of serums at a cheaper price.
Repurchase? No, I'm exploring cheaper alternatives with near identical ingredients and formulas. It also contains fragrance (citric acid).

Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Nourishing Milk
I loved, loved, loved this serum! Such a gorgeous milky texture that I found instantly comforting and hydrating. This made any tautness and uncomfortable dryness immediately disappear.
Repurchase? I enjoyed it so much I'm tempted... however it contains lots of essential oils (a.k.a fragrance) so unlikely.

(Below: sorry about the dirty bottle! I used it up a while ago so this has been stashed away somewhere!)
Elemental Herbology Cell Nourish Serum*
This is my second bottle of this serum - so I enjoyed using it. It does brighten the skin and, whilst this was nice to apply, I'd be lying if I saw long term results. It very much so plateaued in terms of it's effectiveness.
Repurchase? No. On another visit to the ingredients list, it looks like it's mostly fragrance.

Kate Somerville Clarifying Treatment Toner
This is a salicylic acid treatment that I found to be somewhat effective. It's not that it didn't work at all, but I am seeing better results using Paula's Choice BHA which I mentioned here, as well as some budget friendly Your Good Skin salicylic acid treatments.
Repurchase? No, I've found better and cheaper.
Jane Scrivner Nourishing Cleansing Balm*
This was very nice to use. It's a gorgeous thick, oily balm that felt very luxurious to massage into the face until it melted away - taking make up away with it very effectively, in my experience. It's a nice cleanser, but...
Repurchase? No. It's mostly fragrance! Basically expensive perfume-y balm that could cause irritation at any point.

Magic Organic Apothecary The Green Balm
I loved this! It's a beautiful waxy balm that removed any traces of make up and made my skin feel super clean, with no oily residue. I used it as a cleanser, but it's a multi-purpose gem - read about it's other uses here.
Repurchase? Yes. Despite containing limonene (fragrance), I would actually use this again. It is a small amount of fragrance in a wash off formula, meaning less opportunity for irritation.
Dermalogica Precleanse (Full size & travel size)
I've used up a full size bottle plus extra, safe to say I enjoyed this! A brilliant oil that removed all traces of make up.
Repurchase? Sadly no, it is heavily fragranced (lots of citrus derivatives).

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Foam
Nothing particularly special about this one. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it.
Repurchase? No. It's probably full of fragrance too like most EL products.
MGC Derma CBD & Hyaluronic Cleansing Milk
This is a lovely creamy cleanser. I really enjoyed it, found it very hydrating and made my skin feel very soft. And it's fragrance free!
Repurchase? Yes!

Drunk Elephant Beste Jelly Cleanser
This is a nice one - and it's fragrance free! I used it as my morning cleanser for a little while. It's very refreshing, doesn't foam, and leaves my skin feeling very clean! I personally didn't find it too drying, but it is quite soapy texture wise, so may not be as pleasant to use if your skin is very dry.
Repurchase? Probably at some point in the future.
Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar
This is the second jar I've been through and I really loved it, mostly because it did noticeably minimise the appearance of my pores. It genuinely did make my skin look instantly smoother and brighter. This is probably thanks to this moisturiser containing AHAs.
Repurchase? As much as I enjoyed it, no. It contains fragrance!

Fushi Radiance Face Cream*
I really, really like this - it's such a shame that it has some fragrance in it! Not that the fragrance caused me any problems (but as a sensitising ingredient, it has the potential to become problematic at any time). This has shea butter in it which is a lovely moisturising ingredient, and I found it to be very effective at making my skin feel hydrated and soft. I've actually been using it as my night cream for the last couple of months, and I'm sad to see it empty.
Repurchase? No, because it contains some natural fragrance ingredients.
Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream
This was a lovely night cream, really felt like my skin was cocooned but the actual formula isn't weighty at all. Left my skin feeling very soft!
Repurchase? Nope, fragrance... again.

Body Care
Aromatherapy Associates Revive Body Wash
I really enjoyed this. It smelt very fresh and lathered a little bit without being bubbly - if that makes sense.
Repurchase? Unlikely, it's too expensive. But it's one for the Christmas list!

REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash
Another luxury body wash I enjoyed is this rose scented gel from REN. The scent of this really lingered and I enjoyed it a lot.
Repurchase? Similarly, it's too expensive - but another for the Christmas list.
REN Rose Otto Body Polish
This body polish was lush: gentle exfoliation and a gorgeous fragrance. Left my skin feeling so soft!
Repurchase? No. Like most women, I have a surplus of body scrubs and the like! I don't usually buy them, they just kind of...accumulate.

Rituals Ayurveda Balancing Body Cream
I loved this. The scent was mostly honey with some added rose and it just smelt so delicious. Such a beautiful scent and a fantastic body cream, with a whipped texture that left my skin feeling so silky.
Repurchase? No... same reason as above! There's no shortage of body creams and butters...
Nivea 0% Aluminium Deodorant
I loved this! It really controlled sweat and unwanted sweaty smells during the mini heatwaves we experienced this summer. Plus the fragrance of it is very fresh and, because I bought it on holiday, the smells brings back happy memories and makes me feeling very nostalgic. I love that. Another great thing is that it's an actual spritz, not an aerosol - great for asthmatics! It's also better for the environment in that sense, as well as coming in a glass bottle.
Repurchase? I would if I could! I bought this at the Niveahaus in Hamburg and it doesn't appear to be readily available in the UK - the one I've linked is on Amazon and at an inflated price (not worth it). I think it's available in roll on format, though. I'm on the hunt for it!

Percy & Reed Wonder Cleanse & Nourish
This is supposed to be a single step cleanse; no need for conditioner. I love the concept, but sadly I didn't like this. It always left my hair feeling and looking greasy no matter how little I used and how thoroughly I washed it off. Don't let it put you off P&R products though because others are amazing...
Repurchase? No.

Percy & Reed Splendidly Silky Moisturising Conditioner*
As someone with dry, coloured hair - I loved this! It's a gorgeous conditioner: non-lathering, leaves my hair feeling very soft and looking lovely and shiny. This is quite a light weight conditioner so doesn't weigh down any bounce.
Repurchase? Absolutely.

Percy & Reed Hair Mask
This lasted me a very long time because I saved it for special occasions, like my birthday and my graduation. Whilst in the shower the morning of, I'd leave it on between 5 and 10 minutes whilst I shave my legs and do other shower bits and bobs, then rinse it out like a conditioner. My hair is always so much smoother and shinier afterwards, as well as just feels healthier and fuller.
Repurchase? In a heart beat.

You have probably noticed I've developed an aversion to fragrance in my facial skincare! You can read why in this post.

Thank you for reading! Let me know what you've used up lately.
